Waitress

Written and directed by Adrienne Shelly--who also costars in this movie--"Waitress" is a film with a lot of heart. It was an official pick in the Sundance Film Festival, and unfortunatelly Adrienne Shelly was murdered shortly after the movie came out...tragic, huh?

The movie tells the story of Jenna--played by the beatiful Keri Russell--a waitress that works in a restaurant that specializes in making all sorts of pies; most of which are invented by Jenna, who has an affinity for pie-making. In the beginning of the movie Jenna finds out she's pregnant, which she's not too happy about because she is a married to an abusive and ignorant man, who she wants to leave.

The movie then goes on to tell the events that follow her first appointment with the new obstetrician in town, who she ends up having an affair with.

This film explores how Jenna learns about love, and to really love herself and her child. It is a touching story with a very well-written script. It is a bit too cute for my taste, but nonetheless it was a good movie.

My official rating for this movie is 3.5/5
